The ETI Recorder is a high quality digital temperature-indicating device designed for displaying and documenting the processing temperature in retorts. It complies with FDA 21 CFR Part 113, and it is ideal for thermal processing of low-acid canned foods. The ETI Recorder has a digital display that is easy to read, offers an accuracy of +/- 0.1°C, and does not constitute a potential source of mercury contamination.

Documented and Traceable Accuracy
The ETI Recorder has an accuracy of +/- 0.1°C / 0.18°F and is tested against an accurate calibrated reference device and is delivered with a NIST traceable (or equivalent) calibration certificate. The ETI Recorder sensor has a unique ID which is shown on the calibration certificate ensuring traceability.
The combination of full compliance with FDA regulations and Ellab’s renowned quality and high reliability makes the ETI Recorder an excellent choice for retort monitoring. Recognizing that product safety, quality and efficiency are critical to our clients, Ellab has added additional features to the ETI Recorder.
Calibration
The factory recalibration procedure is made simple as the sensor holds both calibration constants and ID which are independent from the display. When sending the sensor in for factory calibration, a certificate will be issued which includes all of the information needed to comply with FDA regulations and ensures the reliability and accuracy of the ETI Recorder. The calibration date is easily visible on the digital display. The ETI Recorder display automatically shows a warning 28 days before factory recalibration is due.
The ETI Recorder offers complete process control and monitoring via an optional connection to a PLC using Modbus communication.
The temperature, pressure and time measurements are communicated directly to the PLC. This makes it possible for the user to control the process and the machine (autoclave). Monitoring one or several ETI Recorder units is possible when the PLC is connected to a SCADA system. This ensures an accurate overview of the measurements from all ETI Recorder units installed.
To ensure that your process continues to provide safe and sterile results, your autoclave must comply with established standards and norms (EN 285 and ISO 17665). In order to successfully do this, autoclaves require periodic qualification and validation to prove that they sterilize within their qualified parameters – and thereby provide completely clean and sterile materials and equipment.
Retort Sterilization in the food industry refers to any closed vessel or other equipment used for the thermal processing of foods. Typically, the sterilization temperatures vary from 110 to 135°C.
Both static and rotary steam/air retorts, and water immersion/cascade/spray retorts require temperature validation.
